The Charming Mountain Goat – Cake and “Pain”

After diligent in-depth research here are some very detailed, but nevertheless extremely important reasons why one should never ever pass a boulangerie in the South of France without entering and purchasing something.

 

To begin with, there are the very basic reasons that every one is aware of: Croissants, Pain au Chocolat, Brioche, Croissants aux amandes, Croissants aux amandes et chocolat, Tarte aux pommes, Chausson, Jalousie, Tarte tatin, Tarte aux fraises, Tartelette aux fruits rouges, Financier.

 

There are other considerations. Baguette tradition, Baguette provençale, Pain à l’ancienne, Fougasse, Restaurant fariné, Pain aux cereals, Pain aux tournesols, Pain aux figues (selon saison), Pain aux olives. Obviously, all this is just common sense.

 

Apart from that never underestimate: Éclair chocolat, Tarte feuilletée aux abricots & pistaches ou pommes, Tarte citron, Tarte Tropézienne, Tarte chocolat, Tiramisu en velours noir, Tarte Tutti Frutti, Tarte Framboises Pignons, Tarte aux Agrumes, Gendarme de St. Tropez, Triangle d’or, Panacotta à l’orange, Macarons frambroise & pistache, Tarte chocolat moelleuse.

 

If that doesn’t convince you it might be preferable to look at the situation from this angle: Frambolat, Croustillant aux chocolat, Pain Paillasse, Levain naturel, Savate, Pain de seigle, Pain complet, Fougasses garnies (Roquefort, crême fraîche; Gruyère, crême fraîche; Chêvre, tomates, huile d’olives; Crême d’anchois), Pain “Moisson”, Pain de Campagne, Tarte au fromage blanc et cerises, Tarte chocolat, truffes et nougatine aux gruets de cacao, Tarte coup de soleil: marmelade d’orange et madarine, Mistral, Mousse au chocolat, Crème brulée caramélisée sur biscuit chocolat punché vanilla, Ecureuil: dacquoise noisette et mousseline praliné noisette, Charlotte aux fruits rouges, Entremet aux trois chocolats, Opéra: biscuits café, crème au beurre/café, ganache au chocolat, Meringue aux fruits rouge.

 

There are in fact many more other equally convincing arguments on my research list, but do I really need to say more…?
